I have been on the board of the association since its inception in the early 60’s. I graduated from Creighton in 1950 with a Pharmacy Degree BSPH. I live at 2410 Eagle Ridge Drive in Co. Bluffs, Iowa 51503. I am a staff pharmacist at the Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa. I have worked in many different pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, Nursing homes, and owned my own pharmacy for 17 years. I have run for the Board because I want to be involved with the different facets of Pharmacy, also because I feel I am furthering the Goals and Ideals of the profession.
I feel that our association has helped advance our profession in many ways: We donated a poison control cabinet to Mercy Hospital. We started a program named “Call Your Colleague” whereby we could pass on information concerning forged Rx, abuse and other information. We started a program during poison week by giving out ipecac syrup. We started a program to collect used prescription bottles. We started a program offering CE’s combined with a social hour and a meal. We have a good relationship with other associations and with our Legislators. The Association started a scholarship program for Pharmacy students, whereby a thousand dollars is given yearly.
My goals for the association are to continue the scholarship program, continue offering CE programs, influence our legislators to vote and pass laws that are best for people and the pharmacy profession, and to keep the lives of people safe and promote good health by being honest and ethical.
I am also a member of the Iowa Pharmacy Association. When I had my own pharmacy I was a member of several other associations.
I was on the CB school board for 13 years, received the Alegent Heritage Award in 1999, Outstanding Citizen award in 1994, United family award of honor in 1989, 50 years of service to the Profession of Pharmacy, Optimist Club member, Member or Iowa Judo Association, US Judo Association, American Legion, VFW, Volunteer Award from the YMCA, and others from various Judo Clubs and Associations.
