Ron Baker, RPh
Number of years on the board: 26 years
Year of graduation/school/degree: University of Iowa College of Pharmacy 1973
Hometown and current place of residence: Fairfield, Iowa Louisville, NE
Work title and site: (or school of pharmacy for students): Happily retired
Reasons why you decided to run for the board: Tony asked me if he could draft me
Reflections on board/association involvement: I started to practice pharmacy with a typewriter and a corded telephone with no insurance claims to bill. It was pure patient interaction and care. In spite of all the “progress”, I want to promote the patient care and the caring side of the profession to new students and practitioners and try to maintain common sense in the rules and regulations put forth by insurance companies and regulatory bodies.
Your goals for our profession: To bring the profession of pharmacy back to pharmacists and taking it from the hands of third-party owners and insurance companies
Other professional organizational involvement: NPA
Community service activities: Active member of Christ Community Church in Omaha, officer of Second Mile Riders Chapter of Christian Motorcyclists Association, active in HOG, Bible study leader
Awards/honors: Multiple lifetime awards starting with Eagle Scout, platoon awards in the military, multiple Medicap awards – elected district representative, fastest growing store, best use of television marketing
Other items of interest : Active in various motorcycle groups, enjoys bicycling, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hunting, photography, SCUBA diving
