Reasons why you decided to run for the board: I wanted to gain an appreciation for the issues that Pharmacists in Southwest Iowa deal with on a daily basis. I also desired to join an organization that could serve as a positive resource for the Pharmacists of Southwest Iowa, which then gets relayed to our patients.
Reflections on board/association involvement: One of the first things I have noticed about the SIPA board members is their passion for the well-being of all Southwest Iowa pharmacists. The quality and intensity of discussions during board meetings has been a second classroom for me. I appreciate how the SIPA board members have taken care of their students, including me, because they want to see us as future and young pharmacists enjoy our profession with the least amount of pressures and problems. Lastly, it is wonderful to see how SIPA reaches out to the community by putting on Professional Meetings for the Pharmacists of Southwest Iowa.
Your goals for our profession: With the emergence of $4 medications nationwide, my goal is to still see pharmacies get paid sufficiently not only for the dispensing process, but for other value-added services. I hope to see my patients place trust in me as their Pharmacist and not look at me solely as their medication dispenser.

Other items of interest: In my spare time I enjoy playing Tennis and Basketball. My passion is watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls. When school is in recess, I love going home to Chicago to drink Dunkin Donuts coffee and to see my six nieces.
